MAKING MEMORIES THROUGH THE ARTS

Making Memories through the Arts programs have welcomed hundreds of people living with memory loss and their care partners into a growing number of arts venues on Long Island for over 10 years. Recognizing that music, film and visual arts spark memories and encourage engagement, Making Memories programs offer a safe and unique environment for care partners and their loved ones to share experiences and to be inspired. Led by Marcy Rhodes, a certified special education teacher and licensed master social worker, each program is individually curated based on a specific theme or exhibition.

These programs demonstrate how engaging in the arts, as a non- pharmaceutical approach to care, enhances the lives of individuals living with memory loss and their care partners. The arts, in its many forms and shapes, have the power to connect all of us with only those deep-rooted, colorful, and emotional memories that last a lifetime.
